Traditional Aikido

Under the direction of Y.Yamada

Aikido is a Budo (martial art) created by Morihei Ueshiba, (1883-1969). Budo is the path of the warrior. True budo is the unification of body and mind (heart).  Through the practice of Aikido’s techniques this unification will manifest itself through the state of “no mind” also known as an autonomic reflex. The aim of Aikido is to create better people from within – through the practice of its techniques and principles.  This approach is different from the typical attempt to improve people from the outside – as society often does through the application of laws and punishments. Through the practice of Aikido we subdue our egos and learn to love the attack by making a peaceful reconciliation with it. Aikido is also a discipline that leads to the understanding of forgiveness with the eventual goal of enlightenment.
